The Moscow Jazz Festival will be the most ambitious project in the history of Russian jazz. The Festival opening and closing concerts will be held on the stage of the Zaryadye Hall, and also, famous musicians and youth jazz bands selected according to the results of the All-Russian competition will play in the Hermitage Garden, Zaryadye and Muzeon parks, Novopushkinsky Square and VDNKh for 5 days. Guests of the Festival will enjoy a large-scale musical program in the leading jazz clubs of the capital and an educational program in Muzeon Park and the Hermitage Garden. In total, the Festival will host over 700 artists and well-known jazzmen and popular artists from other musical genres will present jazz programs as headliners.
On June 13, the Zaryadye Concert Hall will host the opening of the first international Moscow Jazz Festival dedicated to the celebration of the Centenary of Russian Jazz. On this solemn evening, two eminent bands widely known all over the world will play on the same stage: the Moscow Jazz Orchestra of Igor Butman and Moscow Soloists chamber orchestra created by Yuri Bashmet.
The Hermitage Garden will become the main outdoor area of the Festival. Igor Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, Larisa Dolina, Evgeny Margulis, Alexei Chumakov, Khibla Gerzmava, Oleg Akkuratov, Fantine, Daniil Kramer Trio, Zventa Sventana, Vadim Eilenkrig, Mariam Merabova and many other musicians will play there for five days, from June 14 to 18.
The Festival will close on June 19 with a gala concert at Zaryadye where the Moscow Jazz Orchestra of Igor Butman and the star of the world opera scene Ildar Abdrazakov will present a co-production program.
“This year we are celebrating 100 years of Russian jazz and running the largest project in the history of Russian jazz – the Moscow Jazz Festival. For the first time, more than 700 artists will perform for 7 days in a row at 6 city venues, 4 of which are free to visit. We also organized the arrival in Moscow 100 best youth jazz bands – winners of the competition from all over Russia,” said a virtuoso saxophonist Igor Butman.
Scenes in Zaryadye and Muzeon parks, Novopushkinsky Square and VDNKh will be free to visit. Sale of tickets for concerts in the Zaryadye Hall and the Hermitage Garden is open on the official website of the festival.
The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow.
The All-Russian Competition for Youth Jazz Bands is supported by the Presidential Grants Fund.
